Recommended Time In Role

Before moving from a position as an Officer into the role of a Purser, the Officer should have over five years of industry experience and at least two years served specifically as an Officer.

Mandatory Qualifications

All candidates must have STCW Basic Safety Training (A-VI/I), with the additional PDSD Training.

Recommended Qualifications

Option 1) GUEST Yacht Purser Program and Advanced Leadership ultimately leading to the IAMI GUEST Yacht Purser CoC.

Option 2) Experience in Purser duties on board plus GUEST Advanced Administration & Management, Human Resources (HR), and Foundation Leadership.

Recommended Experience

Experience working closely with the Captain with administrative duties, including port clearances, ISM reporting, destination management, itinerary & event planning, budgeting, and accounting.

Notes

Degree or vocational qualifications in relevant sectors such as accounting, event management, business studies, and HR would be valuable.

Shoreside industry experience and roles can transfer very well into that of the Yacht Purser- including personal assistants, project managers, and event planners.

Knowledge and skills, including the use of specialist software programs such as Sage and Voly, are helpful. Additionally, event management and PR skills are encouraged.
