Head of Housekeeping
Recommended Time In Role
Ideally, the Head of Housekeeping should stay in their role for a minimum of four seasons before considering advancing their career. A season includes time spent preparing for and with guests onboard.This is the length of time needed to perfect the skills to be a strong Head of Housekeeping and the minimum amount of experience needed for more senior roles.
Mandatory Qualifications
To be eligible to be Head of Housekeeping, all candidates must have STCW Basic Safety Training A-VI/I. Food Safety in Catering Level 2 is also needed if serving or handling food.
Recommended Qualifications
The strongest candidates will also have completed the GUEST Yacht Advanced Hospitality Program (leading to Yacht Senior Stew. CoC). Relevant courses include Yacht Interior Administrations, Advanced Housekeeping Service, Advanced Valet Service, Advanced Laundry Service, and Foundation Leadership. A full driver’s license is expected.
Recommended Experience
Successful candidates will have spent a minimum of four seasons in a steward/ess role with predominant exposure to housekeeping, valet & laundry responsibilities.
